Compatible Apple Health Workouts
Introduction
Sync your workouts and body composition data with Apple Health for better progress tracking and personalized workout recommendations.
- Workouts: Send logged workouts to Apple Health and import compatible Apple Health workouts into Fitbod.
- Body Composition: Sync body fat percentage, weight, and lean mass to track changes and refine recommendations over time.
Follow the steps below to enable syncing and ensure the correct permissions are set for seamless data tracking.
How to Connect Apple Health
Follow the below steps to sync Fitbod with Apple Health.
In the Fitbod app:
- Open the Log Tab.
- Tap the Settings icon (top right).
- Scroll to Health Profile.
- Tap Sync with Apple Health.
- Follow the prompts to grant access permissions (see details in Apple Health Sync Permissions).

- Open Apple Health.
- Tap Your Profile (top right).
- Go to Privacy > Apps > Fitbod.
- Enable Read and Write permissions for workouts and body composition data.
Apple Health Sync Permissions
The following permissions must be enabled to sync workouts between Fitbod and Apple Health:
Workout Syncing
To send Fitbod workouts to Apple Health (Write Access):
- Workouts: Saves workouts to Apple Health.
- Active Energy: Tracks calories burned.
- Heart Rate: Logs heart rate data. (If using Apple Watch.)
To import workouts from Apple Health to Fitbod (Read Access):
- Workouts: Pulls workouts from Apple Health.
- Active Energy: Reads calorie burn data.
- Heart Rate: Includes heart rate info. (If applicable.)
Recommended (for better calorie estimates):
- Date of Birth
- Height
- Sex
- Weight
Body Composition Syncing
You can sync body composition data from Apple Health to view stats like body fat percentage, lean mass, and BMI in the app.
Required permissions (Read & Write Access):
- Body Fat Percentage: Tracks fat mass relative to total body weight.
- Body Mass Index (BMI): Calculates weight in relation to height.
- Lean Body Mass: Tracks muscle, bone, and non-fat tissue weight.
- Waist Circumference: Logs waist measurements for health tracking.
- Weight: Records body weight.
- Height: Recommended to improve body composition calculations.

Logging & Syncing Workouts
⚠️ Important: Each time you finish a workout, a pop-up will ask if you want to sync it to Apple Health.
- Workouts will only sync if you confirm this option before logging them.
- This allows you to choose which workouts to sync, even if Apple Health is connected.
Syncing with Apple Fitness
To sync workouts with the Apple Fitness app, you’ll need an Apple Watch. Once enabled, any logged workouts will automatically sync to the Fitness app.

- Open Water Swim
Some workouts, like Yoga, Basketball, and High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), are not currently supported in Fitbod along with other activities that are not supported by the app's algorithm.
💡 Tip: If a supported workout isn’t syncing, try disconnecting and reconnecting Apple Health. When prompted, select “Keep” to retain workout data.

How can I prioritize Fitbod’s calorie count in Apple Health?
If workout calories burned aren’t showing as expected, you can adjust Apple Health’s data priority:
- Open Apple Health.
- Go to Browse > Active Energy.
- Scroll down to Data Sources & Access > Edit.
- Drag and drop Fitbod to the top.
This ensures Fitbod’s calorie calculations take priority over Apple Watch’s estimates.
