Introduction
With the Apple Watch Fitbod app, you can:
- Start your Fitbod workout
- Adjust reps and weight for sets
- Log sets and exercises
- View rest-timers and receive sound/haptic feedback
- Finish your Fitbod workout all without your iPhone (you must be connected to iPhone when starting and finishing a workout)
Additionally, Fitbod will read your heart rate from the Apple Watch and use it to factor into the calories burned calculation. For information about how Fitbod calculates your calories burned for each workout, please visit the How Fitbod Calculates Calories Burned article.
After finishing a workout on the Apple Watch, you must Log Workout on the iPhone in order for your workout to be saved. Fitbod on Apple Watch does not operate over cellular data.
***Important Note:
With our Fitbod 5.0 release, we will only support WatchOS 7 and above.
How to install Fitbod onto your Apple Watch

If you are experiencing issues with installing Fitbod on your Apple Watch, please do a fresh install of the app on your device. If you continue to experience issues after doing so, please email us at support@fitbod.me so our team can assist.
How Fitbod uses Apple Health data
Fitbod uses your Apple Health data to create your body profile (weight, height, gender, and age). Currently, Fitbod only syncs body stats (Weight, Height, Gender and Age) with Apple Health once - when you first connect Health. After that, Fitbod does not auto-update weight if weight changed in Apple Health. This is an upcoming feature.
FAQ
Does Fitbod for Apple Watch work without an iPhone or internet connection?
Yes! You do, however, need to connect to your iPhone when logging a finished workout. After selecting Finish Workout on the Apple Watch, you will be prompted to open Fitbod on your iPhone. From there, you can log your finished workout. Additionally, it is most optimal to have your phone and watch paired during the workout.
Please keep in mind that manually adding sets, replacing exercises, adding exercises, viewing exercise demonstration videos, etc. will require your iPhone.
***Important Note:
The developer kit for WatchOS is very limited so we aren't looking to add additional features to the watch just yet. Improving the Apple Watch and iPhone experience is on our roadmap when our development team feels the watch platform becomes more stable.
Can Fitbod be used on the Apple Watch with cellular capabilities without the iPhone?
No. The Fitbod watch app will operate the same on either Apple Watch version or series. That being said, you will need to connect to your iPhone when logging a finished workout.
I'm unable to download Fitbod on my Apple Watch. Why?
With our 5.0 release, we will only support WatchOS 7 and above. Please ensure your Apple Watch is up to date with the latest OS version.
